Confirmed! The NSA hunt for Snowden led to the ruin of Lavabit

The long suspected grounds for Levisons’ decision to shutdown Lavabit have now been, inadvertently, verified by the NSA.

Rather than comply with a Court order to provide the NSA access to all Lavabit communications, Levison decided to close up shop in the summer of 2013.

In an ineptly executed release of documents in the federal PACER database this month, the NSA left Snowdens mail address, ‘Ed_snowden@lavabit.com’, unredacted for the world to see.
